Tommy Schwartz

Dear Class of 1969

A few of us have been talking (yes, we understand all about the "sunshine law") about what to do and who will be the organizer of our 50th Class Reunion.  Yes, I realize it has snuck up on us and we wouldn't have even thought about it if the Class of 1970 hadn't already been talking about organizing theirs.  Well they have set a date and they are a year after us so that means we need to do some serious talking and thinking.

To make a long story short, we need somebody who would like to be the chairman or organizer for this event.  In the past, most of the same people have handled the weight of this and at this point are loaded down with things they have going on.  This is a chance for someone who has all of a sudden realized that they need something to do now that they are retired to keep busy for a while.  Of course at the same time becoming a hero to the rest of the class.

Please take this to heart and reply on this forum if you think you would like the job or if you have any ideas to make this a successful event.  Or, if there is something that you think should be changed from the ways of the past.  This is your class and your forum.  Please help us hash this out so that we all feel good about it,  We are open to all suggestions and ideas.

Thanks,

Tommy

Hey Tommy. Our 50th is definitely a milestone that hopefully everyone from our 1969 class will try to get involved in or at least make every effort to attend. I work part-time but I would be willing to "help" whomever would like to take on this huge adventure. (Any takers??)  Maybe you could put out a request to get feedback from everyone about the time of year that would best suit everyone to come to the class reunion. (ie: June or Oct. etc.or anything in between) That way maybe we could accomodate the "majority" of our classmates. What do you think? Keep us posted. Thanks again for all your help in getting the word out to all of us. It is appreciated very much!

Class

This site has a survey creator and I think we should utilize it in the preliminary planning of this reunion.  In the next few days we will create a survey and everyone will be asked to please reply to it whether you plan on attending or not.  We will include questions as to type of venue, price, number of days, food, etc.  It will very helpful to at least say "yes" "no" or "maybe" even if you don't answer the rest of the survey questions just so we have some idea of how many will be attending.  We have been offered a free hall that seats 70 if our numbers don't exceed that.  It is being very graciously offered by Rick and Jimmie Anne.

Please watch your email in the next few days for the invitation to complete the survey.  We will be getting it ready in a few days.

Thanks,

Tommy

Great idea about the survey, Tommy.  At least that will give everyone a chance to let the chairperson and committee know what the majority prefers.

Hard to believe that we will be celebrating our "50th" in the next year.  I hope we get a great response to the survey that Tommy has so graciously prepared.  It is challenge to know what everyone wants and trying to please everyone can be a difficult process.  Ha!   Part of the planning process requires that the committee goes "out on a limb" regarding reserving faciliies, securing music, decorations, food, etc. without having concrete numbers to move forward.  Keeping the cost at a minimum is also a factor to consider.  I have available pictures and records from prior reunions that I would be happy to share with whomever is willing to take on the task of planning the reunion.  I will certainly be willing to help in anyway I can.  Since technology is readily available to us, many of these tasks can be done from a distance.  GO Eagles!

HELLO TO ALL, I DID THE SURVEY AND I THINK A 50TH IS GREAT. HERE IS JUST A THOUGHT, HAS THERE BEEN ANY THOUGHT ABOUT A  FORT PIERCE CLASS REUNION? DAN MCCARTY,  JOHN CARROLL AND LINCOLN PARK HIGH SCHOOLS. WE WERE TRULY BLESSED TO GROW UP HERE.

HAVE A GREAT DAY, GOD BLESS YOU ALL, GREG SIMMONS

When we graduated in 1969, we had “freedom of choice” to choose which high school we wanted to attend.   A few students from LPA came to Dan McCarty.   I was told none of the Dan McCarty kids went to LPA.  As for John Carroll, don’t tell me you never dated any of the good-looking girls at their high school!  They threw great parties!

Patty Ward Bieber, I think it would be a great idea if you wouldn’t mind posting your email address so people can contact you to volunteer.   I know that a lot of the people who have done most of the work in the past, have had changes in their current abilities to do as much.  So hopefully, a lot of new people will enjoy being involved now that they are retiring.   Just a thought...

I know that Patty is looking for help for next year’s 50th reunion.   From experience, I can tell you that the more people involved, the easier it is, and we get to have more fun at the planning meetings.  The meetings are ALMOST as much fun as the reunions themselves.   So be sure to email Patty at pabieber60@gmail.com so you can enjoy it all!

I believe that Jimmie Anne was able to reserve the Pelican Yacht Club for Saturday, June 8th.  We’ve used that location many times before, and it really makes a wonderful easy venue - especially since none of us are getting any younger and it eliminates much of the hard work of putting on an event.   It also lends itself to any kind of get-together, from completely casual to completely formal.
